The Plainfield Co-op is governed by the Board of Directors,
as established by the membership through the Co-op’s Bylaws. The board
delegates responsibility to and holds accountable the Management Collective for
meeting organizational goals stated in the board’s governing policies. To
ensure the goals reflect the membership’s desires for the Co-op, the board
works to create and sustain a meaningful relationship with the membership. The
board also perpetuates its leadership capacity using ongoing education, training
and recruitment. Members meet annually to review the organization’s
accomplishments of the previous year, envision changes in the community the
organization will affect in the future, and elect board members. Members are encouraged to be involved with Co-op
governance by attending board meetings, by running for the board, and by
volunteering to work on a board committee.
